From hard coal to wind energy: the long-standing DA member company Hagedorn Unternehmensgruppe is making an active contribution to the energy transition by dismantling a former power plant in Ibbenb\u00fcren.<\/p>\n
High power plant constructions as a challenge<\/strong><\/p>\n Since July 2023, the company has been dismantling the plant, which was shut down in 2021, with up to 150 employees. The special feature of this dismantling project is the immense height of some of the power plant buildings. A 275-metre-high chimney, a 126-metre-high cooling tower and a boiler house with a height of 120 meters will be dismantled. The tall parts of the building will be structurally weakened in advance.<\/p>\n Preparation of construction waste for recycling<\/strong><\/p>\n For the most part, the removal of the floor and foundations will be complete. However, some areas are only being cleared to a certain depth. A CAT 395 & 390, a CAT 352, a Liebherr 980, a Liebherr 960 LF, a KMC 600, various 30-40 ton trucks and small equipment are currently being used in the course of the project. A total of approx. 170,000 tons of construction waste will be produced, which will be processed for recycling on the 27-hectare site.<\/p>\n Other challenges of the demolition project include the disposal of the volume of contaminated materials and the logistics of heavy-duty transportation.<\/p>\n The site is due to be handed over to Amprion in September 2026.
