“The ordinance Mantelverordnung has to be kept moderate”

“Requirements for construction and demolition waste must not be set so high that recycling is no longer possible.”

With all understanding for soil and groundwater protection, the requirements for excavated soil and demolition residues should not be increased in a way that they can no longer be recycled but only deposited in landfills. This urgent appeal was made by representatives of the associations Bauverbände.NRW, Verband Garten-, Landschafts- und Sportplatzbau and Deutscher Abbruchverband to NRW environment minister Ursula Heinen-Esser. Background for the meeting are the consultations between the federal states and within the federal government concerning the Mantelverordnung. If the requirements are tightened too much, this would result in high costs, long transport distances and, above all, a dramatic scarcity of the already limited landfill space, the economic spokesmen emphasized.
